Abstract
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between the health behavior and the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of pregnant women.

Methods: The subjects of this study were 4537 pregnant women who were registered in the research project sponsored by Korea Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC), using secondary data. The data used in this study has characteristics of panel data, which measures the same person repeatedly over time. Multiple linear regression and panel regression were conducted to examine the relationship between health behavior and the HRQoL by each period of pregnancy and postpartum.

Results: The HRQoL of pregnant women was high in the order of one month after childbirth, 1st trimester, 2nd trimester, and 3rd trimester. Multiple linear regression results showed that light activity, normal activity, and enough sleep were significantly related to HRQoL at all time-points. On the other hand, panel regression analysis using fixed-effects model was conducted to control the characteristics of pregnant women that were not observed in the model. The results showed that light activity, normal activity, and enough sleep were significantly related to HRQoL.

Conclusion: The HRQoL of pregnant women who had light or normal activities was higher than that of pregnant women who were stable, and HRQoL of pregnant women who had enough sleep was higher than that of pregnant women who had lack of sleep. This suggests that the intervention are needed for pregnant women to achieve adequate physical activity and enough sleep during pregnancy and postpartum.
